Why Planning + Action Don't Always Line Up

I want to talk about an experience that I think we all share.

That is, the tension between planning and implementation.

Tell me if this sounds familiar...

You do your annual, monthly or quarterly planning with grand intentions.

You're ready to show up differently, you're ready to take the big leap and let this be the quarter that everything changes.

But, life gets in the way, habits repeat and your plans fade into the background until the next time you sit down to plan.

What is that thing that happens?

From my experience in working with many, many clients implementing in their businesses, there are a few things that get in the way.

1. Lack of clarity

There are three layers of clarity that make taking action soo much easier.

Clarity on your goals and what you want to accomplish and why.

Clarity on the best strategy to get you there.

Clarity on the steps required to go from A-Z.

Often when people do their planning, they miss one or more of these bits of clarity which makes taking action tough.

2. Belief that it will work

This is a sneaky one. I've seen people procrastinate on the best strategy in the world, perfectly laid out simply because they don't believe that they can do it or that it will work for them.

This is ultimately a fear of failure showing up as Netflix at 2pm on a Tuesday.

3. Misalignment

I've had to really get honest with myself on this one over the years. The amount of times I've set a plan in motion because I felt like it is the way I HAVE to do things or SHOULD do things is silly.

What happens in this situation is that there is sooo much internal resistance that we never take action on it because it truly wasn't for us.

But instead of owning that, catching it earlier and saying - nope that's not for me...

We feel like we should have tried harder and done more and we end up feeling bad about ourselves when we weren't necessarily the problem.

I've started to see resistance as a clue that I either need clarity, a mindset shift, or to realign my plans.

I started to empower myself around my resistance.

Which is why I'm so passionate about Empowered Action.

Empowered Action is a planning and implementation program.

It's a place for you to:

  • Clearly define your key goals for the next 90 days.

  • Vet your strategies for alignment and effectiveness.

  • Create an aligned action plan.

  • Run "sprints" in your business to tackle your action plan.

And get lessons, tech tutorials and support to actually get it done.

I've been implementing and taking action in online businesses for over six years so I'm including a project plan vault with lessons on how to do all the things that I help my clients with:

- how to do quarterly planning
- how to host a webinar
- how to create a content plan
- how to leverage automation
- how to set up your email marketing

And so much more.

This program is all about aligning your goals with your action plan and then having loads of resources to actually get it done faster and easier.

I'd love to know, does Empowered Action sound like something that would be helpful for you right now?
