How I’m Going Back To Basics With Traffic

Recently I shared how I figure out the most valuable system to focus on in someone's business. You can read that here if you missed it.

In short, the most important foundational systems for a successful business help you:

→ get traffic

→ convert traffic to leads

→ convert leads to sales

Learning how to do these three things reliably and consistently will change your business.

They all require deep work.

And they're very easy to overcomplicate.

A month or so ago, I pre-sold and then created the lead magnet course which helps people convert traffic to leads with a strategic lead magnet.

And today I want to talk about getting the traffic in the first place.

A lead magnet is an incredible asset for your business.

But, how do you get new people to find it?

The honest-to-Beyonce truth is that growing traffic in my own business hasn't been my focus.

Not because I'm not good at it, or I don't know how, or because I can't help people.

But because I haven't prioritized it in my business. #realtalk

Is that true for you too?

I've prioritized short-game strategies instead.

However, a couple of months ago I hit an enough-is-enough moment where I decided that I was ready to get serious about growing a consistent traffic source in my business (without having to show up constantly on social media.)

I don't want to create endless content for social media that disappears and I have to keep up with trends and stress out about it on the daily.

I decided to go back to basics:

I want to create valuable content that is found and shared by search engines.

I want search engines to help to deliver my content and information about my business to people that I can help and...

I don't want to have to physically be there to share about my work and my business all day every day.

I want the content I create to keep working for me long after I create it.

After all, SO much work goes into the content we create - why not leverage it?

So, I got to work getting systems in place to tackle this strategic business goal.

For me right now that means a minimum once per week blog post + a new Pinterest account (with the help of the brilliant team at Haskin Creatives).

I started by repurposing some of my emails just to START and now I am creating blog posts that are new, strategic and hugely valuable.

It's not easy and it will take time but I honestly can't think of a better long-game strategy for my strengths, interests and goals.

This is not what it has to look like for you.

I love writing so getting serious about my blog strategy makes sense for me.

In fact, I’m THRILLED to do it.

For you it could be a podcast or YouTube or...

... there are so many options.

But, the goal is to figure out how to get traffic reliably and in a way that you enjoy and get systems in place to support you.

In my next post I'm going to break this process down into the exact steps that you can use and implement in your business.

I'd love to hear where you're at in your traffic-getting journey.

Is this something you want to focus on in the next few months?
